Hello Pack 1343 Families!
We made it! Another amazing school year is coming to a close. As we head into summer break, we hope everyone will join us for one last Pack meeting before the heat, vacations, and popsicle season officially takes over.
This final Pack meeting is all about celebrating our Scouts, recognizing our incredible volunteers, and enjoying some well-earned fun together at Rollins Ford Park. Bring your lawn chairs, bring your energy, and bring your best playground racing skills. We cannot wait to see everyone there!
A Note from the Cubmaster
As we come to the end of another Scouting year, I want to take a moment to reflect on what Pack 1343 has accomplished together. This year was filled with adventure, learning, laughter, service, and growth. From den meetings and pack events to campouts, courts of honor, the rocket launch, pinewood derby, Blue & Gold banquet, and all the little moments in between, our Scouts continued to show what it means to live by the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
One of the best parts of being Cubmaster is getting to watch our Scouts grow throughout the year. We see it when a Scout tries something new for the first time, helps a friend, speaks up with confidence, learns a new skill, or simply shows kindness when no one asked them to. Those moments are what Scouting is all about. Badges and ranks are important, but the real reward is seeing our Scouts become more confident, more capable, and more thoughtful young people.
I also want to thank our families, den leaders, committee members, and volunteers. A strong pack does not happen by accident. It happens because families show up, leaders give their time, and volunteers step forward to make the program meaningful for our Scouts. Your support, patience, energy, and commitment are what make Pack 1343 successful.
As we head into summer, I encourage every Scout to keep the spirit of Scouting alive. Explore outside. Help at home. Be kind to others. Try something new. Be brave when something feels hard. Most of all, remember that being a Scout does not end when the meeting is over or when the school year wraps up. A Scout lives the Oath and Law every day.
Thank you for a wonderful year with Pack 1343. I am proud of our Scouts, grateful for our families, and excited for the adventures still ahead. I hope to see you next Scouting Year!
⚜️ Upcoming Events
📍Final Pack meeting and Volunteer recognition
Join us as we wrap up an incredibly full Scouting year with an evening of fun, celebration, and popsicles. We will take time to recognize the amazing volunteers who help make Pack 1343 possible. From den leaders and committee members to the parents who quietly help behind the scenes, this Pack runs because people step up for our Scouts.
After the recognition, the Scouts can burn off every last bit of energy on the playground while families relax and enjoy the evening together. Please come out and help us celebrate the people who make the magic happen. They deserve a huge round of applause and maybe an extra popsicle.
Annual Planning Meeting
Want a say in next year’s adventures? This is your chance.
During our annual planning meeting, we build the entire Pack calendar together. We talk about campouts, hikes, themes, service projects, special guests, Pack meeting ideas, and all the little details that turn a good Scouting year into a great one.
Whether you have one idea or twenty, we would love your input. No prior experience required. If you have opinions about snacks, camping, rockets, fishing, STEM nights, or how many times a year Scouts should be allowed to throw water balloons, you are qualified.
Kat will provide coffee and donuts because important planning requires frosting.
⛺ Summer Daycamp
Signup: email Kat
Every Cub Scout deserves at least one week each summer where they come home tired, dirty, smiling, and full of stories. Camp Snyder Day Camp delivers exactly that.
Scouts will spend the week outdoors trying archery, swimming, building projects in the workshop, making crafts, performing silly skits, learning new skills, exploring nature, and making new friends. It is the kind of week kids remember long after summer ends. Best of all, it gets them outside, away from screens, and into real adventures.
Lunch is included each day, and registration is open until June 1st. Open to current Kindergarten through 4th grade Cub Scouts.
⭐ Pack News
🏅Court of Honor 🏅
Our Court of Honor was a huge success! We handed out nearly 300 awards to 43 Cub Scouts, and wow did our Scouts earn them. Many Cub Scouts walked away with handfuls of belt loops or pins after a year full of hard work and adventure.
We would also like to give special recognition to three Cub Scouts who earned Super Achiever status by completing every adventure available for their rank this year:
🏅 Callum H (Webelos)
🏅 Grayson A (Bear)
🏅 Alice H (Wolf)
That is an incredible accomplishment and a testament to their hard work, dedication, and family support. Congratulations to all of our Scouts on an amazing year!
🙋♀️ Volunteer With the Pack
Pack 1343 only works because families pitch in, and we are always looking for more helping hands as we prepare for another great year.
You do not need years of experience, expert camping skills, or a giant time commitment to help. Most roles are easier than people expect, and training and support are always provided. Truly, no one is thrown into the wilderness with just a handbook and a flashlight.
When parents volunteer, our Scouts get more adventures, stronger programs, and a better experience overall.
🔴 High Priority Needs
Popcorn Kernel Trainee
Work alongside Kat and Lenore this fall to learn the ropes before taking the lead in 2027–2028. This is our only fundraiser and helps keep pack costs low for families. Busy season is August through November, then you’re done for the year.
Assistant Cubmaster
Support Cameron and Jake with pack meetings, ceremonies, and special events. Attend one committee meeting per month. Yes, it really is that easy.
2026–2027 Lion Den Leader
Guide our youngest Scouts as they begin their Scouting journey. Fun, rewarding, and a great way to be part of your child’s first experiences.
🟡 Additional Needs
Pack Secretary
Help keep committee meeting notes, assist with communication, update social media, and support the team in staying organized.
2026–2027 Campout Grubmaster
Plan simple menus and help organize food for two campouts per year. A great role if you want to help without a full-year commitment.
Planning Committee Members
Help shape pack events, activities, and goals. Meetings are once a month with our annual Planning Meeting coming up June 7.
If you are curious about any of these roles, please reach out. We are happy to answer questions, explain responsibilities, or let you shadow before committing. Many hands make light work, and when parents step in, our Scouts benefit the most.
⚜️ Den Corner
Wolf Den 3 🐺
We are incredibly proud of our Wolves and everything they accomplished this year. You worked hard, earned a whole pile of belt loops, and grew along the way.
By our next den meeting, we will officially be Bears!
Be sure to put it on your calendar, to kick off the new Scouting year, we will meet on August 9th in the Kingsbrooke neighborhood for an Ice Cream Social and Broad Run waterway cleanup. We will enjoy treats, help keep our waterways clean, and get back into the swing of Scouting together.
Webelos Den 4 ⚜️
Congratulations on finishing a fantastic year as Webelos and officially beginning your journey as Arrows of Light. This next year is a big one. Over the coming months, you will prepare for the transition into Scouting America by learning important skills like the patrol method, first aid, knife safety, camping skills, and more. Before you know it, we'll be standing together at crossover in March.
It is going to be a busy and exciting year, so feel free to get a head start this summer. Swimming, boating, fishing, and cycling are all perfect summertime activities that can help you complete adventures while having fun outdoors. Adventure requirements can be found here: https://www.scouting.org/programs/cub-scouts/adventures/arrow-of-light/
We hope you all have an amazing summer, and we cannot wait to see you again in September.
